This article outlines statuses, showing availability with color-coded icons to enhance communication and workflows. It explains each status, how they reflect real-time activity, and their updates based on app usage and connectivity.

In this article, we’ll cover:

  • What user statuses mean
  • How statuses reflect user activity

What are user statuses?

User statuses in VXT provide a quick and intuitive way to understand a user's availability for calls and other activities. These statuses help team members identify whether someone is available, busy, or offline, facilitating smoother communication and workflow management.

How are statuses displayed?

Statuses in VXT are indicated by color-coded icons that reflect the user's current state. Here's what each status means:

When the user is online:

  1. Red: The user is in "Do Not Disturb" mode. This indicates that they should not be interrupted.
  2. Orange: The user is currently on a call.
  3. Green: The user is online and available.

When the user is offline:

  • The status will always be Grey, signifying that the user is not currently active in the app.

What determines if a user is online?

A user is considered online if they have the VXT app open on any device. For the desktop app specifically, "open" includes instances where the app is running in the background. This means that even if the app window is closed, as long as it hasn’t been fully quit from the system tray, the user will still be counted as online and able to receive calls.

However, a device must be actively online for this status to be maintained. For example, if the device goes to sleep or loses its internet connection, the user’s status will switch to offline. This transition to offline should occur promptly, without significant delays.

Key considerations

  • Accurate Representation: Statuses are designed to reflect real-time activity, ensuring that team members can rely on them for accurate information.
  • Instant Updates: While statuses update almost immediately under normal conditions, any rare delay in switching to offline is typically due to unexpected technical issues.

By understanding and utilizing user statuses in VXT, you can enhance communication and ensure that team interactions are seamless and efficient.
