      Click to call not working (Tel links)

      What is Click-to-Call?

      Click-to-call is a feature that allows users to initiate a phone call directly from a web page by clicking on a link. This functionality is particularly useful for quickly contacting businesses, customer service, or individuals without manually dialing a number. The link, typically formatted as a "tel:" URL, enables the browser or application to handle the call through the device's default calling app.

      Example of Tel Links

      A tel link is formatted as follows: tel:+1234567890. When you click on this link, it should trigger your default calling application to initiate a call to the number provided. For instance, if you see a link like Call Us on a website, clicking it will start the call if your system is properly configured.


      How to Fix Click-to-Call on Windows

      1. Navigate to the Search Bar

        • Click on the search bar at the bottom of your screen.

      2. Search for Default Apps

        • Type “default apps” in the search bar and select it from the results.

      3. Access Default App Settings

        • In the default app settings, look for the section labeled “Enter a file type or link type” at the top.

      4. Enter TEL

        • Type “TEL” into the search field.

      5. Select VXT as Default

        • When the option appears, click on it and choose “VXT” as your default application for handling tel links.

      By following these steps, you should be able to restore your click-to-call functionality using VXT for tel links on Windows. 

      How to fix click-to-call on Mac

      1. Open and sign-in to FaceTime

        • Launch the FaceTime application on your Mac and make sure that you are signed in with your Apple ID.

      2. Access FaceTime settings

        • In the menu bar at the top left corner of your Mac’s screen, click on the FaceTime drop-down button.

      3. Open settings

        • From the drop-down button, select “Settings”. This action will bring up the settings tab for FaceTime.

      4. Set default calling Option

        • At the bottom of the settings tab, you will see the “Default for Calls” drop-down button. Click on this button to view your options.

      5. Select VXT

        • Choose “VXT” from the list of available options to set it as your default application for making calls.
